My DNA Nuggets: 23andMe

My DNA journey has provided me with nuggets of information about myself.  I say nuggets because this information is like "Gold" to me.  Without pursuing this journey I would never know where my family came from.  What I did know is they came from the south (Virginia/Georgia), and migrated north.  The story goes much deeper than the south.

My blueprint through the 23andMe results has provided a breakdown of my ancestral origin. The  breakdown of these regions were modified this week providing further details from system enhancements  recently made by 23and me.  Prior to the updates made at 23andMe, my European results were shown as Northern European: Scandinavian DNA.  This no longer shows in that format.  Without technology this would not be possible, especially, for those researching their family ancestry.  Sifting and understanding the data is a continuous learning experience.  Understanding what all this means will be challenging.  Connecting with the DNA cousins is going to be a breakthrough.  Journey on!

DNA Composition
  • 74.6% Sub-Saharan African
  • 21.3% European
  • 1.3 % East Asian and Native American
  • 2.8% Unassigned

DNA does indeed reveal "nuggets" of info, and as new updates become available we will be able to learn still more.

You are absolutely correct. We've come a long way in research with this tool. Looking to drill down further, and make some cousin connections. M. Dawn, thanks for your feedback.
