Challenge: Locate the birth and death location of my paternal Great-Grandfather Stephen George, and identify who his parents were.
Goal: My ultimate goal is to find a connection to
the Georgia line of my Great-Grandfather Stephen George, parents and siblings.
Ancestor: Stephen George my paternal Great-Grandfather
Parents & Siblings
(Unknown)
Tribe(s):
Georgia: Early County
and Savannah
Alabama : Henry
County
According to the U. S. Federal Census records, Stephen was born
about 1855 in Georgia (no County listed).
Through conversations with family, and my research, I believe he resided
in Early County or Savannah Georgia prior to documented reference of his
Alabama residence. The Census records
from 1880, 1900, and 1910 are the only documents that I have found Stephen
George listed. On all three records,
Stephen lived in Henry County, Alabama.

Questions:
- Determine what part of Georgia did Stephen George live?
- What is the date/year of Stephens’s death?
- Who are Stephens Parents?
- Who were his siblings (if any), and/or slave owner?
- What other resources are available?
Next Step: Collaboration and Networking
This project will be my main focus. With patience, determination, and a little nudge from the ancestors, I'm positive I will uncover hidden treasures along the way.
To help achieve this task, I'll reach out to my family fellow genealogist/researchers while networking with members of the new Group AAGSAR (African American Genealogy Slave Ancestry& Research Group) found on Facebook. I will review notes and files I have on Stephen. There's always the possibility that something was overlooked. With the use of technology, the knowledge, and expertise of all, I'm confident this challenge will help answer questions that will further my research on my maternal "George" family line.
