Monday Madness: Mail Call - Sarah's Death Certificate

It's a bad rainstorm, and I'm waiting to check the mail as I've done for the past week.  I sent away for my Great-Grandmother's death certificate a few weeks ago.  Anxious and curious to know what it would reveal, it finally arrived today.

I quickly opened the document and looked at the names of Sarah Ann's mother and father.  I said to myself, "this can't be correct, they must have sent me the wrong document."  Who is Smith?

I looked down further, and saw a woman's name that I recognized.  It was my aunt Alberta, the person listed as the informant.  I kept looking at the surnames listed on the death certificate "Smith", and wondering to myself, who are these people?

The death certificate listed Sarah's husband John, and her mother with the same last name "Smith."  It listed her father with the last name Baylor, which is correct.  However, his first name is a little different.  Close but not what I knew.  Maybe a little investigation is needed.

I do believe there is a mistake in the last name being Smith.  It should show the Surname "Sale" for Sarah Ann's Mother, and Jackson is the surname for Sarah Ann's Father.  All other documents that I have correspond with the surname Sale and Jackson.  Maybe Alberta didn't know who their natural father was.  Who knows why the names were/are incorrect.

Questions:  Did Sarah Ann marry twice, and was her 1st husband a "Smith?"
Was Sarah Ann's fathers name Toliver, Oliver or Taylor?

"Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, the future is a gift."

I can now pass another piece of my lineage onto our future generation.
