Treasured Memory: Reflection of Mom

My mother wrote a letter to my daughter while she was in the hospital.   Even though she was dealing with her own illness – she wanted to make sure everyone is doing ok – a mothers’ love.  My mom passed away the year after she wrote this letter.  The first time I came across the letter it stunned me.   It’s a time that I’ll never forget.  The letter was written on a paper towel.  Reading the letter is like hearing her voice, a reflection in time.   Below is an excerpt from the letter.

Dear Tooty,
What’s new with you?  How was Thanksgiving – did you get enough to eat.  I had some of Denise’s Dinner too.  It was very good.  I was so full I couldn’t go to sleep.
I don’t have any news from here.  Are you helping mommy around the house?  Is Mr. Beasley, being a good boy – kiss him for me.
I was so very glad to see you yesterday.   It was a big surprise.  Say a big prayer for me so I can come home.  I love you.
