Great Aunt: Mertieen Baylor Hill

My Great Aunt Merteen or "Teen" as she was referred to.  I don't know much about her.  She raised my grandmother's daughter "Mary."  I recently found some information on her in an old family Bible. (retrace your steps) She appears to be dressed in a uniform.  (This might be a Church Usher's uniform - Circa 1900's.)

Aunt Teen looks strong & no-nonsense! I often wonder why our Ancestors rarely smiled on pictures. Was this common for the period or were they just sad?

Smiling was not encouraged for photographs back then. Sad, wasn't it! Different times!

Welcome to the Geneabloggers family. Hope you find the association fruitful; I sure do. I have found it most stimulating, especially some of the Daily Themes.

May you keep sharing your ancestor stories!

Hi Luckie,

She sure does. I wish I knew more about her - have to keep digging.
