Reflective Monday - Sonny

As I reflect today, I couldn’t let this month go by without recognizing my brother, William “Sonny”. A month of celebrating black history, and my family’s history; for we all have giants, who have played a role in some part of our lives – in family.

Sonny the 2nd child of four siblings knew about family. When I started this journey, we conversed on some of the discoveries that I came across. We talked about my first connection with our Baylor relatives in Virginia, to the census records listing our ancestors. He would laugh; I could see his smile over the phone. I called upon him for his knowledge, he would listen and say, “yes I remember that person” or, express an interest in those that he did not know. He would say, “How are they related? Let me know what you find out.”

He provided me with family photos of our grandparents, my siblings, and even me. We would laugh…reminiscing on our childhood days.

Sonny would be proud of where the journey has taken me so far. I know that he has followed the path, and is right there beside me saying, “well done.”

Encouragement, Inspiration, Mentor, the giant with a big heart “Sonny”. We love, and miss you.   Dedicated to you:  I Wanna Thank You.
