I Remember Mom In A Special Way: Happy B'Day Mom (Rebecca)

I remember mama in a special way is how the song goes (Shirley Caesar).

From Sam Cooke's, "We're Having A Party" to Rev. F. C.  Barnes,  "The Rough Side of The Mountain" mom is always with me.  The memories are everlasting.  These were a few songs that I remember my mom listening to - I picture her smile, and smile back.

Some of my memories of mom:  She was known as Becky/Rebecca to others but she was mom to me.  She liked to collect shells at the beach.  She didn't go far in the water, just knee deep.  On Saturday's  while cleaning mom would listen to music.  She would dance around the house snapping her fingers, we would be sliding up and down the waxed floors.  (lol  "Good Times")

Sunday's was the Lord's day in our house like most others.  Gospel music would be playing while getting dressed for church.  Even when mom got sick, she wanted to see the cornerstone laid at church.  So, my brother drove her to church that Sunday, she watched from the car at the ceremony, and saw the parade of church members dressed in gold/white march into church.  It was something that she did not want to miss.

She enjoyed life, family and especially her grands.  If she could see them now - how they have grown.  But we know that she is looking down on us with smiles of joy.  Love You!

During this journey into my family genealogy, I've learned a lot about my mom's side of the family.  I've  made connections with family members that I didn't know, we've had two reunions, and we've developed a strong family bond with one another.  I know my mom would be proud of me.

Thank God for memories.
